Information:

Pierre (Peter) Schreiner

Pierre Schreiner was born on December 24, 1815 in Godbrange, Junglinster, Luxembourg. His parents were Johann Schreiner and Elizabeth Meÿsenbourg.

The first Luxemburg census available, from 1843, shows the following family:

  • Schreiner Jean, born 27 November 1783 in Junglinster
  • Meÿsenbourg Elisabeth, born 14 April 1780 in Godberange
  • Schreiner Pierre, born 25 December 1818
  • Schreiner Jean, born 15 May 1820
  • Schreiner Michel, born 11 April 1823

The 1846 census of Luxemburg has the same family members, but each with different birth dates.

On January 17, 1849, Pierre Schreiner of Godbrange, son of Johann Schreiner and Elisabeth Meÿsenbourg, married Marie Werner of Flaxweiler, daughter of Mathias Werner and Magdalena Heinen, in Godbrange, Luxemburg.

The 1849 census lists Pierre and his new family:

  • Schreiner Pierre, born 1815, Godbrange
  • Werner Marie, born 1820, Flaxweiler
  • Schreiner Marie, born 2 Apr 1849, Godbrange

The 1851 census lists a son, Nicolas. The 1852 census adds a daughter, Nannette. The 1855 census changes the name of the younger daughter to Catherine. And the 1858 census includes a second son, Thedor.

The 1861 census for shows the full Schreiner family:

  • Schreiner Pierre, age 43 years, 6 months
  • Schreiner Marie nee Werner, age 42 years, 4 months
  • Schreiner Nicolas, age 10 years
  • Schreiner Theodore, age 5 years
  • Schreiner Marie, age 13 years
  • Schreiner Catherine, age 8 years
  • Schreiner Madelaine, age 1 year, 11 months

The census records continue every three years or so, with children moving away as they get older.

The 1875 census for Luxemburg has only Peter, born in 1825 and Magdalina born in 1858. Marie Schreiner nee Werner died in 1868, in Luxemburg.

Peter Schreiner of Gorbrange died on June 10, 1884. His parents were listed as Johann Schreiner and Elisabeth Meysenbourg, and he was the widower of Maria Werner.

Jean Schreiner and Elisabethe Meÿsenbourg

Joannes Schreiner was born on May 19, 1782 in Junglinster, Luxembourg. His parents were Joannes Schreiner and Odilia Lacafe.

Birth information for Elizabeth Meÿsenbourg has not been found yet.

On January 24, 1808, Jean Schreiner of Junglinster, son of Jean Schreiner, deceased, married Elisabethe Meÿsenbourg of Godbringen, daughter of Michel Meÿsenbourg and Marguerite Gasch.

As noted above, the first Luxemburg census available, from 1843, shows the following family:

  • Schreiner Jean, born 27 November 1783 in Junglinster
  • Meÿsenbourg Elisabeth, born 14 April 1780 in Godberange
  • Schreiner Pierre, born 25 December 1818
  • Schreiner Jean, born 15 May 1820
  • Schreiner Michel, born 11 April 1823

The 1846 census was similar. By 1849, Pierre married and moved out. Michel was still single. And Jean was married to Madelaine Probst, had two daughters, and was living with Jean.

The 1851 census only had the parents, son Jean and his family living at the residence. Jean had a new son, Jean. So in 1851, there were three Jean Schreiner's living in the same house, ages 71, 30 and 1 month. This is the same for 1852.

The 1855 census includes a new daughter, Catharine.

By the 1858 census, the elder Jean was deceased, but Elisabetha Meisenbourg was still living with her son, Jean, and his family of two sons and four daughters. This was the same in 1861, and 1864, except Jean's family then included five daughters. Elisabethe died in 1865.

Jean Schreiner died February 1, 1856 in Godbrange. His age was 72.

Elisabeth Meÿsenbourg died April 8, 1865 in Godbrange. Her age was 83.
